Martin Honisch

Playing within the boundaries of surrealism, Martin Honisch paints what he sees and what he enjoys. His compositions take up pleasant dreams, the bizarre and the enigmatic, where distinctly European landscapes, parks houses and gardens are played out by the imagination of an artist willing to test the limits of perception. Reminiscent of the work of the early 20th century masters Henri Rousseau and Rene Megritte, Honisch’s equal play and mastery over color, line and composition create beautifully executed compositions rooted in a strong sense of individual style and a knowledge of the history of art, revealing the oftentimes forgotten treachery of images.
