Returning again and again to an abstracted and displaced figuration, Bill Bragg’s paintings are a luminous exploration of the human form, floating between space and time. Trained and mentored by Jock Mcdonald, a member of the Painters Eleven, the work of Bragg remains critically distant, evocative of a sense of familiarity yet mysterious, an unknowing. His use of color and texture suggests the paradox of the temporal and the eternal, the corporeal and spiritual. To the artist, art is communication, the communication of emotions, attitudes, relationships … our very human preoccupations. Art Works is proud to carry what is left of the few Bragg works that remain on the open market.
