Shinah Lee bridges distinct styles and methods to imagine a life translated through the act of art. Originally from South Korea, her passion for art was kindled exploring the cultural landscape of Montreal. Her compositions are a telling interpretation of some of the consistent themes of Montreal Abstraction – broad strokes and all over treatments, layers emerging from layers to create a texture unique to abstraction. Combined with her training in graphic design, Lee’s is a world of colour, texture and composition. Symbols such as the flower weigh heavy upon her compositions, illuminating the endless trajectories that cross life, love, and death. These are paintings inspired by the images Lee perceives and the vibrations she feels within her surroundings.
