Born in 1967 in a small Georgia town, Neal ‘Gregory’ McGaha was always a sportsman. Hoping to assist his baseball career, Gregory attended the University of South Georgia but transferred to Georgia Southern one year later. To graduate, Gregory was required to take an art course and he chose a simple figure sketching class. It was here that his artistic talent became immediately apparent. Still a baseball star, Gregory chose a career in art instead, attending the Art Institute of Atlanta after graduating college.
Gregory says, “I love the similarities between sports and art. There is a similar energy, a similar healthy pressure, a similar focus that is required. Especially in my shared studio, where I am surrounded by fellow artists – there is a similar code between us, a similar team spirit where everyone pulls together and really tries to help each other’s creative process.”
