Enda Bardell
-
Enda Bardell, originally from Estonia, via Sweden, is an award-winning artist now living and working in Vancouver, Canada.
Enda has been a creative explorer from a young age, delving into careers such as costume designer, fabric artist, and founder of Enda B. Fashion Limited. Her interest in art began at the age of nine when she started designing back-to-front fashions for paper dolls while her family were refugees in Sweden. Her mother's job at a paper factory provided her with free materials, fueling her creative pursuits.
Enda started her artistic journey as a young teenager in Canada, creating landscapes in oil. As she grew older, she transitioned to producing hard-edge abstracts using acrylics. Currently, her focus is on watercolour paintings, drawing inspiration from sky patterns, freighters, and striking landscapes.
She briefly pursued her early studies at Vancouver Art School (now ECUAD) and participated in workshops with well-known Canadian artists such as Toni Onley, a watercolorist, and Joan Balzar, recognized for her brightly coloured hard-edged abstract paintings. Both of these artists later became her friends and mentors.
Enda has showcased her work in over 30 solo exhibitions and numerous group shows, both locally and internationally. Her art can be found in corporate and private collections across China, Europe, and North America. Editions of her work are widely installed in the hospitality industry throughout Canada and the USA. She is also represented by galleries in the Vancouver area.
Enda has been an artist in residence at Parrsboro Creative in Nova Scotia and the prominent Yukon artist Ted Harrison’s Retreat. She is both the author and illustrator of "Innocence in a Turbulent World," a biography depicting her early childhood in Estonia.
In 2010, Enda was honoured to be invited to participate in the Estonian Art in Exile exhibition at the KUMU National Museum of Art in Tallinn, Estonia. One of her works is now in the permanent collection at KUMU, and another is in the Tartu Art Gallery in Estonia.
