Jennifer Harwood is an accomplished visual artist whose work is a captivating exploration of painterly landscapes and florals. Born in Ontario and raised in the Lower Mainland of BC, Jennifer developed a passion for the arts from an early age. Her first introduction to art through Emily Carr's summer foundation program at the age of 16, solidified her interest in the visual arts. From there Jennifer obtained a degree in Contemporary Dance from Simon Fraser University, a diploma in Arts Administration from Capilano University and a diploma in Graphic Design.
Drawing inspiration from both the abstract expressionists and impressionist artists of the past, Jennifer creates a uniqueness in her artwork by balancing an intuitive approach with an intentional depiction of space and dimension in her paintings. Her experience in the performing arts has also influenced her style of painting and can be seen in her expressive, gestural brushwork inviting the viewer to indulge in the movement and emotional quality present in the work.
As an award-winning artist, Jennifer has been an exhibiting artist at Red Dot Art Fair during the prestigious Art Basel in Miami, been represented by galleries in Palm Springs, California, Victoria, BC and Toronto, Ontario as well as an associate member with the Federation of Canadian Artists.
