"This is a painting of my daughter and my dad going for a walk in my home town of Mayerthorpe, Alberta. I live in Vancouver now, but I go back often to visit family. These visits always include a walk or two around the small town. This was a cold winter day and the early sunset made for dramatic lighting and long shadows. This scene with the iconic grain elevator in the background really captured the unique character of my home town. This, combined with the image of my dad and daughter spending time together, has a lot of meaning for me. This painting is a way for me to fully appreciate that moment and share it with others."
