"This was by far the most difficult piece I’ve worked on, not because of the act of painting itself, but struggling to find the motivation and inspiration to work while grieving. The worst part of completing this, is that I can’t share it with the one person that inspired me the most to make painting my career. The only thing that drives me to work towards this exhibit, is that it will be in my wife’s honour, and hopefully she will spiritually see the end results, this being the first of many. We walked about half a kilometre to get to this beautiful lookout point. As rough as the short hike was, Barbara stuck with me without complaining even though suffering with every step due to the intense pain in both her damaged knees. She never wanted to miss out in discovering the beauty of a new place we’d never been to, or not be my support from the start of what would become a new painting." Florian
